Pearls of Wisdom
![]() Here's a posting from my new website, everyone remembers the nursery rhyme of Humpty Dumpty, we remember the lines, we remember the rhythm that goes along with the rhyme, but we probably have never really thought about the meaning behind this old song or rhyme. Ask yourself this? What is Humpty Dumpty, what does he resemble, what is he symbolic of? Of course!!!!, an “Egg” and what comes from eggs when we look at them in nature? Life, possibility, and a new beginning. Likewise the wall is symbolic of life itself, and reminds us that at some point in our own life we will fall and we may fall hard and when we hit rock-bottom we may crack. When Humpty Dumpty fell and shattered to pieces all the king’s men and all the king's horses couldn't put Humpty together again. We have two views on this last sentence of the rhyme when we imagine ourselves shattered laying on the ground, perhaps after we lose someone we love or are suffering through a failed relationship, first, no one but yourself can fix you or "put you together again" and secondly you can never go back in time to the state before you "fell", it is impossible, you are forever changed. But with the shattering there is also new beginnings and new possibilities. Humpty, ourselves and the phoenix all share commonalities, we suffer through tragedy and change and then are reborn again, hopefully wiser and stronger "the second time". Nuggets of Dirt
